Macka's Mission Tutu

Macka’s Mission, Inc. was founded in 2021 by The McRae Family in Woburn, MA.  The mission of this organization is to raise awareness about addiction and overdose, reduce the stigma associated with addiction and mental illness, and raise funds for individuals in support of their recovery.  Overdose deaths continue to rise, as there were over 106,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States in 2021, a 15% increase from the previous year.  The rate of drug overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl, increased by 22% from 2020 to 2021.

In February 2020, the McRae Family tragically lost their beloved son and brother, Justin McRae, to a fentanyl overdose, just 10 days before his 22nd birthday.  Macka's Mission honors his memory and seeks to help others like Justin.  Justin was an incredibly smart and personable young man.  He was the captain of his high school football team, attended college classes, started his own business, and had a bright future.  He was 5 months in recovery, also helping others in their own recovery, when he succumbed to his battle with addiction and mental illness.  Macka’s Mission shares Justin’s story in hopes of making an impact in the lives of others.
